After my parents left to go back home to Australia on Monday, I was in some desperate need of cheering up. Given how much eating I've done whilst they've been here (and how much weight I've been piling on recently!), chocolate wasn't really an option. Filling the couch with smiley creatures is definately an option and always cheers me up.
These guys will be on my stall at this Saturday's Crafternoon Tea.
I missed last week's Creative Space as I was on holiday with my family but this is what I would have shown you if I'd been here. I spotted the Olearia that Kate knitted a while back had to have a go myself. My oldest daughter, Maddy, loves blue and hates sleeves so it seemed like the perfect pattern.
The wool is Patons Jet.
I found these stunning Italian floral buttons in our local wool shop (Wild and Wooly, Devonport) and knew Maddy would love them.

Fingers crossed! Love the pup in the middle...
lovely space, i adore your Olearia. grrr contrary girls and their pesky development of free will and taste and the right to express their opinion. fingers crossed that she learns to love it, would be gorgeous over denim look leggings (my daughter calls them jeggings)
That cardigan is beautiful. And the buttons are perfect. I can't believe you can knit, as well as sew, as well as teach sewing! Incredible.
She will surely come round to loving that! It is gorgeous Sarah!
Your cuddly critters seem a good substitute for food to cheer you up! They're really cute!
Love your softies...great job on the Olearia even if the intended wearer refuses to sport it. Surely she will come around...
such a beautiful cardigan... I hope she changes her mind...
love those smiley creations too!
who wouldn't be cheered up with such friendly faces!!
Love your cardi, even if the intended wearer doesn't.
Perhaps try giving it someone else. And then shell want it!!
I LOVE that cardi! Such a gorgeous colour, too. I really hope she comes around & decides to try it, it's beautiful..I used to refuse my mum's gorgeous craftiness, now I'd give anything to have her make all my clothes!!
Having my lounge covered with faces like those would make me smile too!
All the smily critters are very cute. I hope your daughter changes her mind about the cardi it looks lovely. I'm a bit late but congrats on the course too - it sounds great.
cute little critters!
i am not surprised she doesn't like it, not that it's not absolutely gorgeous, just because I have one aswell that doesn't like any wool on her. will not wear jumpers, don't know if it's the feel. ahhh, can't win.
happy creating Sarah
♥
Those buttons are gorgeous. Perfect for such a pretty top.
Oh Sarah - I so had a giggle when I read your post. It made me remember when my 23year old daughter had a mind of her own and would no longer wear anything even vaguely resembling anything girly. And this with a mother who loved smocking and sewing....aghhhhhh. I can totally identify with you. And neither of the following two boys would let me put them in a dress (teehee) but I did manage to put them in smocked baby nighties!!!!!! Love the softies and hope they cheered you up. Ciao
Arent kids funny - though I remember doing that not wanting to wear things and now i think there was not much wrong with it. I also think it was a confidence issue with me. Anyhoo I love your creative space and your softies - we joined in too :-)
that is really too bad about maddy, cos she's missing out on a gorgeous knit.
They are so cute.
I can't believe you can knit too!
The cardi is so cute, what a shame she wont wear it. What about some fabric covered buttons with the blue, with pink in it. Pink fixes alot of problems around my house :)
Oh no!
It is perfect. I love the suggestion of telling her you are giving it away and seeing if that changes her mind.
Hope you are having a great weekend Sarah. X
Your critters are so cute!!
The Olearia looks great - well done. I love love love this pattern:)
