In fact, I am so unafraid of you that I even made the world's most awesome kiddy undies!
I have actually made 3 pairs of awesome kiddy undies and I am thinking that lots more will be made. Why don't I just go and buy some kiddy undies for my children I hear you ask? Very sensible question and had I been reading this blog a week or two ago, I would have been asking the same thing. The answer is that these undies are particularly awesome because when small girls are hanging upside down on swing sets (as they are prone to do around here) whilst wearing a skirt and NORMAL undies, well, it's just not a good look. With these undies however, all is covered and is just extreme cuteness in the form of funky looking gym knickers/boy leg undies/hot pants.
So if you have ever had the urge to make undies for the small peeps in your life, I highly recommend the pattern by kitschycookids which I got here. It's super easy and if you don't have an overlocker, you can just use the zig zag option on your normal machine. The only extra thing I would recommend that you do with the pattern is to fold over a little bit of ribbon at the back to act as a label so the kiddliwink knows which way they go on.

The pants are ace, do they come in grown up big bottom sizes?? Not that I often hang upside down from a swing set....ahem.....
they look great! i have only tried knit fabrics once and it was a bit of a nightmare, will have to get brave and have another go sometime, i've got a walking foot now so i think that'll make it a bit easier :)
Oh they look cute! Hmm and comfy too :) Lucky ladies :)
super cute! I think I need to purchase that book too!
That Sew U book is just incredible huh? I have it out from out local library at the moment and it has been re-issued once already. I'm going to ask for it for my birthday. The undies look fab!
Nice job! Good on you for mastering knit fabrics. Apart from sewing doll bodies, they still have me quaking in my shoes.
Yay for sewing knit, I was afraid of it for so long. Love the undies, I need to made a heap more for my girl. I used a pattern by 'That Darn Cat' and they look very similar. I love them for the same reason you do, no unfortunate sights around here :)
Who knew I would outlive Knitwit...I did their course in the eighties..well worth knowing how to sew knits. A few tricks and you can sew so much. Love your little undies..good work!
P.S...I have just followed your blog..you like sewing and I do to..please feel welcome to drop in sometime.
cool undies. i hear you about the hanging upside down etc... these look comfy too like mini granny undies :) love the 'built by wendy' patterns. have fun creating more and good on you for not being affraid of the dreaded strech stuff.
Good for you! Those undies are great! My aunt was always good with the stretchy fabric, I always loved what she'd make..
Love the knickers!! You are very brave overcoming your stretchy fear!! I've not sewed much with stretchy - might have to look out that book or something similar and have a go!
