Giveaway and poster

The poster I designed for the March 7th Devonport Craft Market is finally finished and has been uploaded onto the blog. I have absolutely no graphic design skills whatsoever but I can take a photograph, so I went for a collage approach. I'm quite pleased with it.

The fantail is embroidered onto a teatowel which I am going to give away to one of you lovely people along with one of my tape measure brooches. The teatowel isn't quite perfect as I originally embroidered the name of the market on the towel and then unpicked it because I didn't like it. If you look closely, you can see where it was but its still perfectly useable or you could turn it into something else.

.
If you want to go into the draw for the giveaway, all you have to do is to start following my blog (click on the "follow" button in the right hand column); if you aren't already a follower and leave a comment answering the following question:
"What is your favourite New Zealand native bird and why?"

I will pick the winner's name from a hat on Tuesday 2nd March.

You've done a great job of the poster - I've only ever been to the Devonport Markets once and it was at least 6 years ago!

I would have to say my favourite NZ bird would be the Kokako purely for its song!

love the poster and the fantail embroidery. My fav is the Tui - I love its song and the little white tuft under its chin :)

Love the poster! I'm finding it hard to narrow my favourite bird chce down, it would have to be between a Tui and a Fantail.

The collage looks great with the embroidery! I love the Fantail too, as they were in the tree we used to climb when we were little.

sheesh. is there no end to your creativity?
i'm going to be very unoriginal here (but i NEED to enter): my favourite NZ bird is the kiwi, cos it's the only one i know.

Awesome poster Sarah - jury is out on my favourite as there are so many to choose from, although I love Pukeko's (especially the furry little baby ones) and Moreporks... and Tui's, and Fantail's... Oh, and Weka's are up there too after spending a weekend on Kawau with them wondering all around our camp.

You are so clever! I love your take on the poster, very cool! Hmmm, NZ birds are my passion, in fact new tattoo coming up next week of a tui and fantail wrapped around my wrist! But my favourite, that's a tough one, but I'll have to go with the Huia, even though it's extinct, just such a unique bird with its curved beak, white tipped tail feathers and orange wattles.

Hi, as a fellow WAHM, I love your work & your idea behind raising awareness of your blog.

As for my favourite native NZ bird. I love the Kereru (NZ wood pigeon). I live in Titirangi, Auckland & they frequent the nikau palms to dust their tails or perch high in the Kauri trees. My daughter is also fixated by all the native trees & native birds that surround the Titirangi coastline & bushland.

Hope to meet you at the next market day.

Cheers,
Maria

my favorite NZ bird is the one you've chosen to embroider. Fantails are just such a joy to watch as they flit around and fan out their tails.

Look at you! Loving your work. Well I am going to have to say the Tui. I miss being a Tui (altho it was Toohey) but apart from that the Tui has a beautiful (if not a little loud) call and who can beat those beautiful blue and green feathers and the little bauble. A dream.

Awesome poster and brilliant stitching. I am torn between the pompoms of the tui and the legs of the pukeko.
Oh thanks again for the pig. My space monkey pig is coming on well!

My favourite bird is the Tui, because it is just pretty, I love that tail.
The Pukeko is also pretty cool, I love their colourings.

Ooh it is such a toss up between a fantail and a tui - looks like many of us love these birds! The tui for it's amazing little 'collar' and the fantail for having such a beautifully huge tail on such a tiny bird!
