Easter fun

We had a beautiful day with family and friends yesterday.

Our wonderful neice, Mel, organised a fantastic egg hunt for the girls.

She had clues for Maddy which she could read and matching picture clues for Eloise.
So thoughtful!

There were yummy chocolate bunnies at the end.

They fed the sheep

This one preferred the chicken food. The chicken wasn't impressed
but wasn't about to mess with a sheep!

Eloise decided her cousin's legs were the safest place to be

Maddy was a little braver and got the trouble maker back into his pen.

Delphi Dot the bunny enjoyed her adventure too.

I hope you had a lovely day with family too.

Chocolate for Breakfast

When you're woken at 7am by two over excited little girls with new bunnies under their arms (of course you guessed what the surprise was going to be!)  and chocolate all over their faces, you just have to join in and have chocolate for breakfast. And home baked hot cross buns.

This is Maddy's new bunny: Georgie Gorgeous

And Eloise's bunny: Delphi Dot

She told us her bunny's name several times and it sounded like Delphi Dot. Eventually we realised that she was saying 'Daffy Duck' but you just can't call a rabbit that can you?! So Delphi Dot it is!

Have we got the same amount?

Wishing you a very Happy Easter xxx

Happy Easter

The days may be getting colder here in New Zealand
but I'm pretending it's Spring.

I'm putting brightly coloured flowers on the window sill so that we can
ignore the leaves falling off the trees for a little longer.

The Easter tree is putting on a bold and determined show in front of the fire place.

The bunnies are dressing up ready for tomorrow
(hair clip by Liberty Lane)

This lot are figuring out where to hide.

Some have already hidden.

And some are waiting for finishing touches.

Happy Easter Everyone.

My Creative Space - Cute

We're overloading on Easter goodness at our house.

I've been finishing off these pencil toppers to go in Maddy and Eloise's Easter baskets.

To make something similar, cut out a bunny head shape, embroider with a cross for the nose and two french knot eyes. Stitch together with a blank back piece on a sewing machine, leaving a hole at the bottom to pop the pencil in. Put a bit of glue around the top of your pencil and carefully pop it inside the rabbit head. You could also use these as tree decorations by adding a ribbon at the top.

My knitting needles have been click-clacking away too.

This hat is going to a special little 6 month old boy. He hasn't had a great start in life but is off to live with his very special Aunty and I wanted to make him something just for him.

Eloise and I hit the Spotlight sale this morning. She wants to learn to knit and at age three and a half, I may be asking for trouble saying yes but she is really keen!

She chose these colours to make a scarf.

We treated ourselves to a coffee and a fluffy after all our hard work shopping. How cute is this?

We've been collecting feijoas from the garden and turning them into crumble... yum!

Now all I have to do is clean up all the mess we made! Have a great Easter!

Easter goodness

I've been getting ready for Easter.

A sneaky peek of something that will be going in M & E's Easter baskets.

I couldn't resist these Easter Chicks from Spotlight.

This isn't actually an Easter treat but I wanted something gingerbread like. It tastes so much better after a week. Hopefully we can wait that long!!

How cute is this ribbon? I found it in our local Ikes Emporium.

Easter Bunny Egg Cosy Pattern

OK. I've tested it a few times more and it still seems to make sense (to me anyway!) so here it is for you to use. Let me know if it doesn't make sense or if you have any suggestions on making it work better. I'd love to see pics too so let me know if you make one!

Knitted Easter Bunny Egg Cosy Pattern

Small amount of 8ply yarn in bunny colours
Set of 4x 3.25mm double pointed needles

Body. Make one:
Cast on 27stitches and divide them evenly over 3 needles.
Knit until piece measures 4cm from cast on edge.
*K2tog, K3 (Rep. from * to end) K2tog (21 stitches)
K one row.
*K2tog, K2 (Rep. from * to end) K1 (16 stitches)
K one row.
*K2tog, K1 (Rep. from * to end) K1 (11 stitches)
K one row.
*K2tog (Rep. from * to end) K1 (6 stitches)
Break off yarn and thread through remaining 6 stitches. Secure with a few stitches.
Sew in ends

Ears, make 2:
Cast on 6 stitches, leaving a long tail to secure ear to body. Divide over 3 needles. (sorry this is a bit fiddly!)
Knit until i-cord is about 4cm long.
Break off yarn and thread through the 6 stitches. Secure with a few stitches.

Making up:
Using the picture as a guide, stitch ears to 'head'. Embroider eyes and nose. Tuck an Easter egg inside and give to your favourite chocolate lover.

Alternative version:
Make the intitial section longer (eg 6cm), stuff and close off the bottom. Knit extra i-cords for arms and legs and you have a cute little bunny toy.

Have fun!
